Dr. Shad Groves

Clinical practice, education and neuroscience

Dr. Shad Groves is a board-certified chiropractic neurologist, Professor of Clinical Neuroscience, published neuroscience researcher, and U.S. Army veteran. He served nine years in the United States Army before beginning his healthcare career.

While completing the four-year Doctor of Chiropractic program at Life Chiropractic College West, Dr. Groves was simultaneously enrolled in a three-year postgraduate neurology program through Cleveland Chiropractic College. He completed both programs in 2000, became board eligible, passed the neurology board that same year, and became a board-certified chiropractic neurologist and Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Neurology Board (DACNB).

His advanced neurological education has included vestibular rehabilitation, electrodiagnostics, child developmental disorders, concussion and traumatic brain injury, and dysautonomia. He also completed three years of fellowship training in concussion and traumatic brain injury.

Dr. Groves earned a Master of Science in Clinical Neuroscience in 2021, graduating as Valedictorian. His academic career progressed from an initial assistant-professor appointment to his current role as a full tenured Professor of Clinical Neuroscience at the Carrick Institute.

In October 2000, Dr. Groves and his wife, Dr. Karin Kim, opened Chiropractic Neurology Center in Long Beach. Together they built their professional and family lives in the community while raising their two daughters. Since opening, Chiropractic Neurology Center has seen more than 10,000 patients.

His experience also includes more than 18 years rounding in local hospitals and consulting on neurologically based cases, along with three years working with Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC). In that role, his chiropractic-neurology responsibilities included concussion evaluation and return-to-play management for professional athletes.
