Dysautonomia & POTS

Dysautonomia refers to disorders involving the autonomic nervous system. POTS is one form of dysautonomia. Symptoms may include lightheadedness, rapid heart rate with standing, exercise intolerance, fatigue, temperature sensitivity, and other autonomic complaints.

What CNC may evaluate

  • Symptom history and activity tolerance
  • Heart-rate and positional symptom patterns when clinically appropriate
  • Balance and vestibular findings when relevant
  • Neurological examination findings
  • Need for medical co-management or referral

How care is approached

CNC may evaluate neurological and functional findings that are relevant to the individual presentation. Dysautonomia and POTS often require medical evaluation and multidisciplinary care, so chiropractic-neurology services are used as one part of an appropriate care plan when indicated.
