Sciatica

What is Sciatica?

Sciatica may begin as lower back pain, but then the pain moves, traveling down one leg and getting more severe. It may present as: a tingling sensation; a burning sensation; or numbness. Sciatica pain can feel intense and is debilitating for many patients — but all too often it is actually a symptom of a different problem.

Sciatica is caused when something puts pressure on the sciatic nerve, which extends from the lower spine down through the length of both legs. Conditions that can cause sciatica include: a herniated disc, degenerative disc disease and spinal stenosis.

Medical doctors will prescribe pain or anti-inflammatory medications, steroid injections or even surgery. Unfortunately, these treatments only affect the symptoms of sciatica not the underlying disorder.

Sciatic is caused by nerve interference and the most effective treatment is chiropractic care.

Because sciatica is usually the result of pressure caused by spinal misalignment, chiropractic care can be very successful at eliminating the symptoms of sciatica. Chiropractic adjustments remove the obstruction, freeing the sciatic nerve and relieving the pain.

Chiropractic care is a non-invasive, therapeutic treatment that is not only safer than medication and surgery, but also more successful. If you’re suffering from sciatica, shouldn’t you start with chiropractic options first?
